This represents the reportable activities of the Police Department over the last week.  This blotter is updated every Thursday.  

On August 24, 2008 Exeter Police Dept arrested male for driving his car without a license.  He was cited and released in the field.

On August 27, 2008 Exeter Police Dept responded to the 1100 Block of W. Woods.  The reporting party told police that a male juvenile had been dropped off at her house by friends because the male juvenile was too intoxicated and they did not know what to do with him.  Upon arrival, Exeter Police Dept was unable to rouse the male juvenile.  Exeter Ambulance and Exeter Fire responded and the male juvenile was transported to the hospital.  It was later determined that the reporting party had made up the story about the male juvenile being dropped off at her house by friends; and had in fact had a party where alcohol was being served by juveniles and to juveniles.  TRACE (Target Responsibility for Alcohol Connected Emergencies) and ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control) were notified of the incident. 

On 8/28/09, a female victim came to the Exeter Police Department to report a theft of her debit card.  He card was used to obtain $300.00 out of her account at a local ATM.  Photographs of the suspect were obtained and the suspect has been identified.  This case is still under investigation.

On 8/28/08, a juvenile victim reported he was “Jumped” while on the Exeter High School campus during the school day.  He reported that two male juvenile suspects attacked him while he was walking to class.  The two suspects have been identified and were suspended from school.

On 8/28/08, a hit and run traffic collision was reported.  The collision reportedly occurred on Belmont at Visalia Rd.  The victim was able to obtain a license plate number of the suspect vehicle.

On Saturday, 8-30-08 at approximately 1924 Hrs Exeter Officers made a traffic enforcement stop on Belmont north of Meadow for failure to stop at a posted stop sign and investigation of tinted front windows. The driver, Chris Medina, 33 years of age from Woodlake, was subsequently placed under arrest for falsely identifying himself to officers and for an active State Parole violation/ warrant. Medina was later booked into the Tulare County Jail. The vehicle Medina was driving was stored pursuant to State Law and Departmental Policy.

On 8/30/08 at approx 0134 hours, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Belmont and Visalia Road. During the contact the driver. Bernard Gonzalez, 27 years, was found to be DUI and driving without a license. Gonzalez was arrested at the scene and transported to EPD. He was later processed and released to a responsible party.

On 08/30/08 at 1:00 p.m. officers arrested 23 year old Jonathan Streshly for two outstanding warrants.  The warrant was confirmed by Tulare County dispatch; Streshly was then arrested and booked at Tulare County Main Jail.

On 08/31/08 at 8:30 a.m, a stolen vehicle was reported in the 700 block of First St.  It was later determined the vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of the Sierra Cellars as it was left with the engine running and the doors unlocked.  The vehicle is a 4 door 1999 Honda Accord blue grey in color.  Case is currently under investigation. 

On 8/31/08 at approx 0029 hours, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Marinette and Anderson. During the stop the driver, Merlyn Raymond, 27 years, was found to be driving on s suspended license and had an outstanding warrant. Raymond was arrested and later transported to EPD where he was processed and later released to a responsible party.

On 8/31/08 Officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Orange and Palm. During the stop the driver, Ramiro Garcia Pineda, 28 years, was found to be driving without a license. Pineda was processed, cited and released at the scene. Vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

On 8/31/08 at approx 1845 hours, Officer responded to a report of a vehicle burglary in the 300 block of Plum. Upon making contact with the victim, he advised unknown persons had entered his vehicle and removed a wallet containing a small amount of cash, and multiple credit cards. Estimate loss $50.00. Investigation is ongoing for possible suspects.

On Sunday, 8-31-08 Exeter Officers made a traffic enforcement stop on First at Chestnut, for an expired registration violation. Tracy Griffin, 43 years of age, of Exeter was found to be driving on a suspended drivers license, a misdemeanor vehicle code violation. Griffin was placed under arrest and was subsequently released on his signed promise to appear. Griffin’s vehicle registration was expired over 6 months and he had no auto insurance. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days pursuant to EPD policy and State law.

On 08-31-2008 at 1150 hours an officer with the Exeter Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the area of Filbert/King regarding a mechanical violation.  The driver, Rogelio Sanchez(34) was found to be unlicensed.  He was issued a citation and released on scene.  The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On 08-31-2008 at 1554 hours an officer with the Exeter Police Department was dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Francis regarding a theft.  A police report was filed regarding a theft of approximately $50 from the property.  The case is still being investigated. 

On Monday, 9-1-08 at approximately 0240 Hrs, Exeter Officers responded to an address in the City regarding an intoxicated male causing a disturbance and calling dispatch making accusations. Mark Allen, 53 Years of age, from Exeter, was found in public view, extremely intoxicated. Allen threatened officer’s lives, resisted arrest and assaulted officers while attempting to take him into custody. Allen was placed under arrest and was subsequently booked into the Tulare County Jail on felony and misdemeanor charges.

On September 1, 2008, Exeter Police Dept responded to a fight in progress in the 400 Block of W. Pine.  The radio call was then amended to say that there were possible gunshots heard and 5-10 males were seen running with bats in the area.  Exeter Police Dept was able to pull the video from a near by store and the identity of the subjects is under investigation.  At this time. Exeter Police Dept is not able to determine if there were shots fired as no witnesses or victims have come forward.  Exeter Police Dept is seeking the public’s assistance in determining if there were any witnesses or victims to this incident. 

On September 2, 2008, Exeter Police Dept was advised by Tulare County Sheriff Dept that they had found an abandoned Chevrolet Pick up truck in the area of Ave 314 at Blair.  The Deputy determined that the vehicle had been stolen and the registered owner was the Exeter School District.  The Superintendent of the School District, Renee Whitson was contacted and it was determined that a Chevrolet Pick Up had been stolen from the Agriculture Farm.  Exeter Police Dept took the stolen report and the pick up was recovered by TCSO and CHP.  There is an ongoing investigation as to the possible identity of the suspect(s).

On 9/2/08 at approximately 2227 hours, Officers responded to the 300 block of north Orange Street and contacted 32 year old Jerry Simmons for service of an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  The warrant was confirmed through dispatch and Simmons was arrested, cited and released with an Agreement to Appear.

On September 3, 2008, Exeter Police Dept was working radar in the area of Kaweah and Palm.  A 1991 Toyota was stopped for speeding and it was noted that the driver did not have a driver’s license and has never had a license in the Unites States.  The driver was cited for 50 mph in a 35 mph zone and unlicensed driver and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. 

On 9/4/08 at approximately 1910 hours, Officers responded to the 700 block of north B Street regarding vandalism.  Upon arrival, Officers contacted four juveniles who were identified by the Victim as the subjects who damaged lawn property in their front yard.  The juvenile was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Exeter Police Department where he was processed.  The juvenile was referred to the Tulare County Juvenile Probation Department.  The juvenile was later cited and released to a guardian. 

Exeter Police Department is working radar on Kaweah and had written 10 citations for speed.  The public is reminded that the speed limit is 35 mph in the city limits and is strictly enforced.  The speed is 55 mph outside the city limits but as soon as drivers enter the city limits, they are to immediately slow their vehicles down to the posted limit of 35 mph.
